Know your grill

How well do you know your propane-powered grill? Read the manufacturer’s manual and instructions for proper assembly and maintenance, especially when lighting it up. Remember to keep the top open when lighting a grill and don’t cover until it is fully lit.

Location is key

Always use your propane grill outdoors, set up away from trees, pets, people and any other flammable objects. It is recommended to place the grill at least five feet away from your house or garage and be sure that the grill is stabilized on a flat surface. Never leave a lit grill unattended!

Leak inspection

We know you’re excited to get that grill out after a long winter, but first be sure to check the connections, especially for leaks. You can accomplish this by turning on the gas bottle and using a sponge and soapy water solution to gently wipe the valve, regulator and hose assembly. If you notice bubbles that grow in size, then you’ve got a leak on your hands. Do not use the grill until the connections are replaced and re-tested for leaks.

How to store your grill

When the BBQ is finished, make sure the grill is completely cooled off before replacing the cover. Keep the cylinder valve closed and stored in an upright position, away from matches, lighters and other forms of flame ignition or areas with high temperatures. Use plastic bags or purchase protective fitting caps to cover connections and keep dirt, pests and moisture at bay.
